"CHAI - ein neues Zugpferd für die Sub-mm Radioastronomie" (auf Deutsch) by Dr. Matthias Justen (Universität zu Köln)CHAI wird an der Universität zu Köln gebaut. Der Empfänger hat zwei Frequenzbänder mit jeweils 64 Pixeln. Jedes Pixel funktioniert wie ein Spektrometer mit sehr hoher Frequenzauflösung, so dass astronomische Linien in allen Details aufgelöst werden können. Durch die hohe Pixelzahl können Sternentstehungsgebiete sehr schnell kartiert werden. Bei der Konstruktion des Empfängers fließen Wissen und Erfahrung aus vielen Fachgebieten ein, u.a. Präzisionsmechanik, Kryotechnik, Hochfrequenztechnik, Elektronik, Supraleitung und Reinraumtechnologie.”How many eyes does it take to see dusty young protostars?”
"How to build a 6m radio telescope at 5600m in northern Chile" (in English) by Dr. Ronan Higgins (Universität zu Köln)The Fred young submm telescope is on it’s way to Chile. The telescope was designed and built in Germany. In this talk I will cover telescope design, it’s assembly and testing in Germany and it’s journey to 5600m in northen Chile.
